Against Conventional Wisdom: Do Scarce Resources Really Cause Conflict?

Interesting (though somewhat dated) post by Catherine MacRae Hockmuth at Aviation Week:

“…there is little empirical data linking scarcity of resources like water to conflict. Actually, the data show, that conflicts are more likely to be caused by an abundance of resources…”

“Second, arguing that climate change is a root cause of conflict lets tyrannical governments off the hook.”
